Christine Early Mortlock

“My heart is singing for joy this morning. A miracle has happened! The light of understanding has shone upon my little pupil’s mind, and behold, all things are changed.” –Anne Sullivan, Helen Keller’s Teacher

Hello and Welcome!

Thank you for taking your time to visit my e-Portfolio. My name is Christine Mortlock and I am grateful to be an educator. I will be licensed to teach elementary age students, Pre-K through the 6th grade. I bring to teaching an attitude of caring, inquiry, and joy.

I have an international upbringing and have great respect for cultural understanding. I was born in Singapore and lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, Bangkok, Thailand, and Sao Paolo, Brazil, before moving to Connecticut. My first career was in publishing in New York City, which I pursued through my twenties. I have a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in English from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in information and digital resource management from Columbia University. I received my Master of Arts in Teaching from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, in May 2017, where I had a 4.0 average. I received the Virginia Scholars Award from the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, having been nominated by the Hollins Education faculty. I enjoy writing, reading, poetry, singing, travelling, running, and yoga, and it wouldn’t be unusual to find me at trivia nights with friends or watching the latest historical drama or documentary.

I am a joyfully curious, patient, and reflective person. I care deeply about educating children by developing their interests, connecting them to resources and experts, facilitating and encouraging dialogue, and caring for them as individuals. I am also an advocate for the intellectual, social, and emotional well- being of my students.

Thank you, again, for taking your time to visit my E-Portfolio. Please feel free to contact me at christinemortlock@gmail.com should you have any questions or comments.

All the best,

Christine
